I have a IBM Aptiva, Cyrixinstead 6X86 133 MHZ that I upgraded with a AMD-K6 200MHZ and added 16 Meg of RAM (72Pin EDO). The book I have showed the CPU-related jumpers for this. Everything is working but? Now I have a Intel 233MHZ (Intel) MMX processor and two 32 MEG RAM chips to replace two of the 8MEG chips. Both are 72 pin. Question is will this help the kids computer or am I btter off leaving well enough alone. The information from my mother board is:
55 542P1 00
S/N 7225456
IBM M16X86/166+
V56LA M_B96115-1X
48 54203-01X

Thanks

The RAM will defineatly improve the performance. As for the processor, I would leave it alone.

I agree.

Definately add the memory. Your son should notice a big difference.

He probably won't notice the processor switch though. If he's into 3D games the AMD-K6 will probably work better than the Pentium.
