I purchased an Abit BX-6 rev.2 MB a few months ago. I have been using only 1 USB port for my MS Sidewinder Precesion Pro USB compatible controller. I have noticed that the system recognizes the controller in only 1 port. When I plug it into the other port, Windows98 doesn't see it. I am not getting any other conflicts that I am aware of. My system consists of:

Abit BX-6 rev.2
Celeron 400 (slot1)
128 megs PC100 ram
8.4 GB WD EIDE
48X CD IDE
CD-RW IDE
ZIP 100 internal IDE
V3 3000
SB Live Value
USR 56k Voice Winmodem

Any ideas? Thanks!

Win98 only deals with the USB controller and the Root Hub by providing drivers. A diagnosis using the W.A.G. method (Wild Assed Guess) would indicate that you have either a dead connector at the port,or a malfunctioning USB Controller chip. Since the port is board mounted,in either case you probobly need to exchange the MB (under warranty,I hope). Rotsa Ruck.

Thanks for your reply, Grafman. I figured I might have a dead port or something. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I may have missed. Luckily I purchased a two year warranty with this motherboard. I will have to take it in and get it exchanged. Thanks a bunch!!
