I have a GCT-8STB (Global Circuit Technologies- now out of business) and I'm trying to get the USB going.

I have tried installing the standard USB PCI Host and nothing seems to work. I actually got a USB to list in the System Devices, but it didn't work. I removed it and tried some other drivers. Now I can't even get it to list in the System Devices.

My system is loaded, every slot is full and I have no spare resources. Is that why?

I tried another hardware config with many devices turned off (to free resources but that didn't work either)

I'm ready to get a new motherboard. Any Ideas?

Before getting another MB, check your bios and make sure USB Controller is turned on.

Bottom line:

I needed a new BIOS. I got one from a company in MA.

The phone number is 800-800-BIOS

It cost $59 and works like a charm.

The info they needed was the big long number at the lower left of the screen when it starts up.

It would be a good idea to write that number down, Just In Case (JIC)

Now, not only does the USB work, but I can use hard drives larger than 8Gig without a special Disk Drive Bios.
