Getting peed of with Computing degree.
Has anyone here done an A+ in the UK? How much does it cost? How long did it take? Where do you have to go for exams?
Thanks

It costs around £1000 to do the full course + Exam fee's. The Exams by themselves are £100 each, (one for Hardware and One for Software).
I used a local training firm, but the exams are administered by Sylvian Prometric, but most Computer Training firms are licensed with them. Do a search on the web and there will be a training company near to you.
If you are fairly clued up on PC's and Windows the exam's are a piece of cake. Just get a good A+ training guide and don't bother with the course itself.
I can recommend the Mike Meyer's series, this is what I used and it contains all the information you need to pass.

Charge 300J... bzzzt zap beep beep beep
And we all thought this thread was dead :)
OK, so I've read the book, done a few online tests and am generally ready for the test. The only problem is how the **** do I find a test centre? (Preferably in the Lincolnshire/Humberside area).
I've tried M$'s site and there's very little on there (the + really confuses the search engine).
Thanks folks.

Get a list of centres at <a href="http://www.2test.com/tcl/Centers.jsp?pts=1008255391581" target="_blank">http://www.2test.com/tcl/Centers.jsp?pts=1008255391581</a>. If that link doesn't work try this one: <a href="http://www.2test.com/tcl/ZipCode.jsp" target="_blank">http://www.2test.com/tcl/ZipCode.jsp</a>. There are five pages of UK test centres... My geography's ****e, so you'll have to pick one out yourself.

Hang on, you want to sack your computing degree off for A+?
Methinks any techie worth his salt can do this in his tea break.
Re-think.
If you want a job now think A+ and a.n.other quali(and experience!). MCP, MCSE, CCNA, a degree!!! etc. Times are suddenly real tough unless you really know

I did the A+ in 7mins for the hardware and 12mins for the software cos i took my time, - PASSED i dont know wheather its cos im average at what i do, or cos the exam is crap, personally im hoping its the first option.
Good Luck if you decide to do it, but i recommend you finish your degree first. I wish had the opportunity.

No m8, just need something to do on the side to keep my brain working while I'm not teching. As far as the degree goes... only another 18 months
