Sblive Crackles when cold cd put in drive

Since installing the digital cable between my sblive value and goldstar 810B 16 speed cd-rom. A loud crackles go through my speakers especially when cds are cold or 3 years old. Any ideas????

I've had exactly the same problem with the Goldstar CRD-8160B and a SB Live! Value. I've tried the latest firmware updates for the CD-ROM drive but the noise still happens. I've contacted LG and, as yet, they don't have a clue what's causing it as they can't replicate the problems. I've also had lots of problems reading CD-ROM XA disks, have you?
