Program for Copying CD's To Computer

I want to copy my music collection to my desktop...

what is the best program to do this with, as i have noticed that media player distorts the tracks.

i would like a free one but i know this may be unrealistic

any suggestions

As much as I hate to say it, I use Music match jukebox. I don't particularly like the program for anything other than audio extraction but for mp3s its the way to go. Automatic CDDB ID3 tagging and a ton of options as to how you want to congigure the file name from CDDB. The only other prog that I *used* to use was zlurp. I just got tired of the "MOO". (If you've ever used it you will know exactly what I'm talking about.) ;)

I totally agree. MusicMatch sucks as a player, but as far as CD ripping and MP3 encoding it is awesome!

I usually won't try something unless I get three suggestions for that product, so, here's number 3. I don't use Music match for a player, but have used it several times for ripping cds. It may not be the fastest thing out there, but it's done good everytime I've used it.

It depends on what format you wish to record them in. If you are just looking to "rip" your tunes to your PC so you can listen to them while online without having to switch CDs, etc then I would say use Windows Media Player. It will record your songs as .wma files which can only be played on your PC (licensing restriction built inot WMP).

If you want to listen to them on more than one PC, the most universally accepted file format for music is .mp3. Using a product like Music Match or AudioGrabber will allow you to rip your CDs into mp3's.
