There is an update on Roxio's site to bring your version up to 4.05. Try updating it to see if it helps!

This article refers specifically to v5 but if you search deep enough, you'll see that v4 and v4.5 of easy cd isn't that much safer. as for uninstalling it and re-installing it. you could try it but i wouldn't recommend it...
i used to have easy cd 4. it came with my system. NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. i tried v5. even worse. if you install 5, it should automatically find any older versions and overwrite them. it doesn't. it just creates one big mess. and uninstalling it, leaves alot of components behind that you have to clean out manually or re-installation will go south. personally, i got Nero and it works like a charm. it's easy, but can be very sophisticated. my advice... ditch easy cd alltogether.

That problem you linked to only involves the Take Two component on Easy CD Deluxe or Platinum. Easy CD itself has always worked fine on the dozens of systems I've installed it on. Roxio does suggest you uninstall old versions before reinstalling and IMPORTANT: when you are ready to reinstall run the setup AND the updates you downloaded before you let Windows reboot....
