A friend recently downloaded an e-mail that required the shockwave plugin. She apperently had problems with it. When she runs other applications shen now gets the shockwave install screen which asked her to continue with the installation. I have been to the macromedia site and actually redownloaded the installion and completed it, then used their uninstaller to remove it. It still does the same thing. If anyone has any thoughts I would definately appreciate them. Shes running Win 98 on a dell laptop(about 3 years old).
Thanks

If it was in the last 5 days that the system has been booted then you can use scanreg/restore. I had to use it on a cust who's system was asking to install shockwave any time she tried to access a cd and that corrected the prob.

I know enough to know that there is alot that I don't know.

If that doesn't work, I would try going to Internet options from the Control Panel. In the Temporary Internet Files, Click on Settings. In the next window click on View Objects. I would remove any unknown files and the Shockwave plug-ins as well. Then reinstall Shockwave.

Hiya

You may also want to check in the MSCONFIG via RUN. It may be loading up at startup.

Thanks to all for the help. My friend originally has told me that the problem happened "all the time". It turns out , he finally told me, it only happened during printing to one specific printer. I removed all his printers and re-installed them and resolved the problem.

Thanks again to all who gave it a thought
