I have a user running Windows 98SE that had upgraded to IE6/OE6. For some reason tried to remove IE6 and had reinstalled IE5 Now when trying to run OE6 get OE could not be started. MSOE.dll could not be found. Tried running similar fix for OE5 and IE4 but registry keys are different. HKEY_LM\software\microsoft\windows\CurretntVersion \Setup\Migration subkeys for OE5 has 100/200 but I found 600/650 for OE6. fix calls to delete 100 subkey. Should I remove 600 subkey?
The fix also calls to uninstall OE through add/remove. Could not find OE6 in add/remove either in install/uninstall or windows setup. Any ideas... nothing in MSKB. Thanks in advance.

Well, you probably already know that Outlook Express automatically comes with Internet Explorer. When you (or your customer) removed IE 6.0, they also removed OE 6.0. Even tho the shortcut is still there, the program is not.

You might try Exploring to C:\Program Files\Outlook Express and try deleting that directory. Your msoe.dll should be in that directory. Then reinstalling IE 5.5 should install OE 5.5. Of course, you will lose all mail, address books, etc.

Let us know how it goes...Good Luck!
