Gang, my company is upgrading their servers to brand new boxes using windows 2000 server. I would like to know who has the best deals on servers. We are currently looking to purchase the following server for our applications:

Compaq ProLiant ML370 Intel PIII @ 933/133 Rack Model:
PIII 933 (option Kit)
2GB SDRAM
Smart Array 3200 Controller (RAID)
(2X) 9.1 GB Pluggable Universal Ultra2 SCSI HD 7200rpm (1")
(4X) 36.4GB Pluggable Untra3 SCSI 10K HD (1")
Hot Plug Redundant power supply
Win2k SVR Licence
Intel Intelligent Server adapter 10/100

All the above for about $15,700

Is this a good price or should we be looking elsewhere? Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. When it comes to questions, Windrivers always has the answers!!! Thanks for your time,

Arty

When you move into the high end server market don't make the mistake that many companys make. Don't look at price. Look at service. Look for a sales guy who will kiss your a$$. Ask the sales guy if he'll goto bat with Compaq (or any vendor) for you if you have problems with the hardware. Ask the sales guy if they have certified engineers on staff (ASEs in Compaqs case) who can help with software problems you may have. Compaq doesn't care about your software problems unless they're driver related. Also, if uptime is important, buy the 24/7 carepaq. It's worth it. As far as price goes, you can config your machine online at compaq. Look for a price about 3-7% lower than that from a reseller.
