It doesnt get detected at all in all the scans (plug and play and not) I assume my win2k may not be the latest version, but I cant use my modem to connect and check (Im at office right now). Any ideas why it might not detect? Driver? Patch? I checked the US Robo site (thats its brand) and the microsoft website, they dont seem too helpful.

Have you check your motherboard BIOS settings. Try to disable COM2.After restarting win2K will find new hardwere and everything should be OK!

I installed the NT4 version of the USR 56K winmodem drivers. It will not actually install the modem, and will constantly ask you for additional drivers.

However, once you do that, you can leave the virutal com port enabled, and disable the actual modem.

After that, you can manually install a generic 56k V90 modem, and it will attach it to the virtual com port.

Have had to do this on three separate computers, and they're all working fine. It will be nice though, once USR get's off their butts and puts some W2K drivers out.
