i have been looking at my NWadmin (netware 4.11) and have noticed that the vast majority of my users have not got a Mail 8 digit id

can someone please inform me what this is for and why a minority of staff have it and the vast majority do not

I believe that this is part of an old throwback to Netware 3.x, which had an optional internal mail system between users on the same network. I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean anything.

I have worked with Novell servers for a long time, either at my high school, college, and now my work. The one thing I have learned about Netware more than anything else is:

IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, LEAVE IT THE HE11 ALONE UNLESS YOU WANT TROUBLE!

When people are depending on the server to do their work, you can't afford any downtime. Do your experimenting on the weekend.
