Hi,
Could anyone out there help me find drivers for the above? As mentioned in other posts, the Sony site is pretty useless and repeated searches don't help.
Picked the thing up 2nd hand (sans drivers) and it's bugging the crap outta me.
Thanks in advance

Let me know if you come up with anything!! I have the same drive and it works as a "normal cd drive" until I try to burn something to it. It says "No CD Recording Device present" I am using Adaptec Easy CD Creator for software with Windows98

Sony included the drivers in the bundled software for the drive. Either Hotburn or
CD Extreme. You need one of these before
running another burner program.

And forget about using that drive as a burner on Win2K!!! Sony's drivers do not work on Win2K, and they stated on their website that they will not make Win2K drivers for that burner..... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/frown.gif

I have to dual boot now to use mine. But that is okay because the audio editing software I use works much better on NT4 then it does on Win2K.

Oh, I believe you can download Hotburn for free. Don't hold me to that, but I seem to recall seeing it as a free download somewhere, and not pirated! http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smile.gif

Good luck....

I have the same drive running under 98 and I bought it second hand as well no drivers included pluged it in and it worked straight away!....I am running a friends version of adaptec cd copier and its worked fine for the past 6mnths....My only complaint is that I need some new burning software as when I burn some cds adaptec cd copier complains that it can't handle over 100 forms per track therefore burning will not continue!

My Burner is great otherwise

Thanks for all the suggestions (got me registered-hence the new username).......
Basically I had to reinstall the O/S and in the process of which I had the drives auto detected- lo and behold there's my cdr! Now it's running sweet using Nero (v5)
Never did find any drivers so I hope this will be of help to someone
