I just started using Windows ME and have somehow lost my "Search" menu, that is, when I select START/SEARCH, instead of a pop-up menu that says: "Files, folders, etc.", I get a small, blank grey box with a horizontal line through the middle. How can I restore my Search Menu?

just a guess but i think reinstalling me without a format would solve it. ;)

Perhaps it is easier to download Tweak UI utility from Misrosoft. It has functions to set the search straight, although I recognize that your problem could be something else.

What my system does is this: I can access the search feature from everywhere except the Start menu, e.g., I can right-click on the start button and select search and get to it and the same with any open window. But when I click on Start and then Search, an empty grey menu box appears, about .5 inch by .25 inch.
I haven't done the re-install yet so I think I will try the tweakUI first. Thanks for the help.
