Try this: Go to control panel > Add/Remove > Double Click on "Internet Explorer in the list box > Select "repair"

I thank you for your reply but that does not help, the only way i know is to delete windows and install ie 5.5 then upgrade to six.

I'm a little confused...is the problem that a site containing .dhtml won't open...or that you don't see .dhtml effects? [If it's just effects you're missing, tools/internet options/advanced, scroll to multimedia and check "play animations."] If the site won't open, read on.

About uninstalling IE...this is copied from the help files..

To uninstall Internet Explorer

If you encounter problems that you cannot resolve, it is often beneficial to uninstall Internet Explorer and then reinstall it. This procedure replaces files that might have been damaged.

In Windows, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
Notes

If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
If you upgraded to Internet Explorer 6, when you uninstall Internet Explorer 6, you will go back to the version of Internet Explorer that was on your computer before you upgraded.

Last note...in case this problem is related to a previous incomplete download/install, I suggest you use one of the many download utilities that "pick up where you left off" with the download process. [Personally, I like "download accelerator."] But there are other good ones.

When I attempted to upgrade to IE6 I saw a message that said you wouldn't be able to uninstall it. Once you decided to update to IE6 the choice was final. Maybe under XP it's different, but in ME it won't let you.
