Hi,
I updated my VIA chip set the other day to 4.25 from the VIA page here, and ever since I am having major porblems!! I have had to re format my harddrive 4 times and re-load Windows 4 times, and still get errors:
VMM(01)+0000BF97 Error :o E :0028 :c000CF97
--------------------
OE:0028:FF0C)8DC
---------------------
and exception occured at OE :0028:c000D81A 1VxD VMM(01)+000081A
------------------------
VMM(01)+0000C7E2 Error: OE:0028: C000D7E2
-------------------------
VMM (01)+000093D6 Error :o E :0028: c000A3D6
-------------------------'
OE:0028: C270DFD7
--------------
All thesea are with nothing installed excpet the OS and a friggin USB printer, but tried it without it installed...
I have looked on the microsoft support page and all it talks about is if I have Morton installed (I dont have anything installed at all except WINME. I do notice that it happens when I am online, and when I open Explorer.
Is there a way to unload the VIA chipset driver and start from sratch? I first thought I had a bad copy of ME, but my friend borrowed it last week, and he is having no problems.
I seen on this site at one point there was a great windows error site that had everything, but of course I cant find it anymore.
I am surprized that it didnt give me a BSOD while taking the time to type this...ha ha (not funny though)
PLEASE HELP!!

[With a little note about older Norton AV causing them.] It also has links on the page for other error messages...
VMM, if I remember correctly, is a virtual memory manager error.
Lastly, there are serious issues with reinstalls of ME...it's somewhere in the KB...I can't remember what it's called. [The error links on the above page should point to them eventually!]

Hint: Format and install Windows 2000 or XP. ME is crap...everyone knows it...so don't try to hold onto an OS that isn't worth the CD it was burned on.

Was the system working fine before you installed the new VIA drivers? Try booting to safe mode and uninstalling them if that doesn't work, try a system restore.
As for people dogging ME, you're entitled to your opinion, but if you hate ME, stay out of the WinME forum!!

I'll third that! I'm not a huge ME supporter, but I do use it on one of my PC's at home and it's a fine OS. Nothing wrong with it.

Do I hear a 4TH....yep . I avoided it for quite a long time because of all the noise about it being bad , but as best I can tell , it runs just fine with newer hardware . I can't find any major problem with it. Anyhow , have you tried a newer version of the 4 in 1 , I think its up to version 34 now , and also install the VIA USB filter patch.

have you tried to update your Bios? Or you could try changing to Xp or 98SE. ;)
