Glob October 12th, 2000, 06:20 PM The DXR3 allows you to change the playback region upto 5 times, then it becomes fixed on the last region selected. techs October 12th, 2000, 07:20 PM if you change the region, does it change the language? if so, why would they limit that? BTW is this done thru software or firmware? AlienDyne October 13th, 2000, 03:40 AM Most of the cases (depending from the model), it's done thru software. This is the easy part. You get yourself a good DVD Ripping utility. This allows you to manually set the Region you want each time. You have to be careful. If it's done thru firmware, you may damage your DVD unit. This is pretty annoying. Looking forward to free all the regions some time in the future. ------------------ "Matter is passive. In spite of its power, it can't be controlled without the human mind." The movie industry does not want anybody to view movies that were made in one country in another country. for instance, If a movie is released in Japan one week prior to being released in America, One could easily just buy it online and have it sent over. With these country codes, you will not be able to view a DVD movie made in Japan that has a code of lets say 5. Your DVD is set to work with only code 3 which is US and Vice VERSA.. Kind of ****ty but it does serve a purpose. If a person moves to a different country or is traveling, then they can change the code. On most you can change it only 5 times. techs October 13th, 2000, 04:06 PM No sh*t!!! I learned something new today. thanks. windrivers.com
