How 'bout if you go into Safe mode? Can you then try deleting all printers, reboot and reinstall printers? I'd also delete the printer port in device manager and the spooler directory in Windows while still in safe mode just for kicks.

tried but i cant delete it or it gives me the same error message even in safe mode.

im wondering if this could be a hardware problem (eg:memory) or it it only software?

If you have it available, definitely swap RAM, Video, Powersupply...anything that will help you rule out hardware.

Isn't this the error that we had to do a regedit to remove the searchbar value from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main??

Read this article from the Evil Empire. Shell32.dll is most likely in WIN_14.CAB. Extract the file as shown in the article, and see if you still have that problem. Let us know if it helped or not.

FYI: I extracted the SFC.EXE and sfcdll.dll files from my Win98 disk into \Windows\System\ and the default.sfc file into \Windows. I now have WIN98's System File Checker within WINME.

I just fixed a machine with the exact same problem. what I did was boot to safe mode and edit the registry. search for the printer name as it appears in the printers folder and remove every instance of it (backup the registry first please). Once that was done, the printer no longer showed up in the printers folder and I was able to reinstall it with no problems.

Thanks for the replies guys

I tried Formating my hard drive and my master boot record(not sure if it had anything to do with it) and afterwards re-installed Win Me and it worked
