I had been having trouble with the computer crashing when attempting to come out of standby mode. While troubleshooting this problem, a message box popped up on a restart that said something like:
'Your computer crashes when it goes into standby mode, do you want to disable standby mode yes/no'.
For some reason i selected yes, and now i can no longer select standby in the shutdowm menu or the power options control panel.
Anyone know how I can get the standby option back?

I am sure it is a registry setting, but you can try using the System Configuration Utility MS provides.

From a run prompt (Start : Run) type msconfig and hit enter.

In the utility, click on the advanced button and check at the bottom of the window that pops up to see if you can re-enable standby mode.

Cheers!
