I am working on a Compaq Presario 1200. Model #12xl125. This machine originally had win98se installed but after a download the machine would only reboot to the dos prompt. Compaq said I could install winme (which the owner wanted) via fdisk. This was done but the video driver being used was a generic. After several calls to Compaq I finally got the type of video chip: Trident CyberBlade 3d graphics. Compaq couldn't (or wouldn't ) givee me a number so although I managed to find several trident drivers none of them worked. If anyone has any ideaas I would greatly appreciate it as I have spent far too many hours trying to help a friend of a friend. I even tried to reinstall wwin98se but still couldn't get the right video driver and I also lost the sound and modem. I will reinstall ME but would like to find the right video driver.
