[RESOLVED] ie5.5 only loads to 70%

Hopefully an easy fix. I tried installing internet Explorer 5.5 and it gets to 70% installed and goes no further. I have tried 2 different cover disks and downloaded from the net but still the same result.
when i cancell the install i get the message "please wait while the installation cancels" but that doesn't go away.
ideas? :confused:

My hunch is that your ME is not properly installed. Perhaps you should consider reinstalling it fresh. If you choose this option, it will be less frustrating to disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Leave monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Check to see if you have Norton 2001 installed. If you do. Check you C:\Windows\Inf folder for 0k oem*.inf files and delete them. These 0k files can hinder the installation of new hardware and sometimes the installation of new hardware

I meant say new hardware and software also, when updating windows sometimes if an anti-virus like Norton is running in the background it can cause the the update like Internet Explorer to hang. try disabling your anti-virus.
