In windows me my Lpt1 port conflicts with my sound card :
confilting
Direct Memory Access 03 used by:
TBS Montego Sound Blaster Emulation
Interrupt Request 07 used by:
TBS Montego Sound Blaster Emulation

as a result I had to disable it. is there a way around ? i'd like to use My printer port for a camera... help anyone ?

Well, you can enter the BIOS and select another IRQ and Memory range for the LPT1 port.

You could also try turning off PCI steering in Device mgr (I think its under PCI Bridge, but I'm at a Linux box right now so I can't check). AlienDyne's approach would be my preferred one though.

In addition, you could also enable LPT Port Sharing. If this option is available it might help. Look at the Device Manager, the Sound Card properties.

can you not,by means of device manager, force the sound card onto a different irq/dma?

ive got the montego (plus loads of other kit) and did not get problems....

Try moving to a different slot to give it different resources. Original idea of manually assigning resources in BIOS is the best option.
