How do I install a cdr, keeping my cdrom. I have a spare power cable but I don`t have a spare IDE cable or slot. The instructions that came with the cdr were next to useless.

Platypus October 27th, 2001, 03:55 PM If you have more IDE devices than you have available IDE channels, you will need to get an extra IDE board to plug into a motherboard slot. If you give us more information on your system we can be more specific with advice, but manufacturers like Promise make multi-channel IDE cards that plug into a PCI slot. If your system is older with only one existing IDE connector, there would be a cheaper way to do it using a second-hand ISA or PCI I/O board. Post again if you'd like more detailed info. windrivers.com
