I need to shorten some cable that I have but I would like to know how to out the connectors back on before I go and cut the cable. Are there any websites that anyone knows of that have that info? I tried doing searches and all I get are stupid cable stores selling cable. (Good for them but bad for me). I would just go buy a smaller cable but this is my incoming cable for the cable modem.

Trim the sheathing and insulation about a 1/2 inch down from the end of the cable.
Leave the copper wire in the center of the cable the full length (DO NOT TRIM THIS OFF) so that it can stick out the center of the end connector when you put it on.
End can be picked anywhere, Radio shack etc.
Slide end connector over trimmed cable end and crimp down to secure end onto cable.

A pair of standard pliers can be used, but better to use is a coax crimper. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Also - trim the copper wire that comes out of the end to be flush with the end of the connector. and look on your cable to see if it is RG6 or RG58 and be sure to buy the right connector.

Radio shack also has a booklet on making your own cables - probebly in the Antenna book.
