Ok I figured I'd drop this into a Windows forum and see if I can get any ideas..first off I gotta say I have 3 systems..all using straight TCP/IP on the main machine I have a Gateway setup for a LinuX connection..I hope thats correct..now what I want to integrate into my network is an SGI Indigo2 Workstation, it's running Irix 6.2, which namely is another form of Unix..Now heres the dilema..I can't seem to get the SGI machine to be seen on the Win2000 machine, and the SGI machine to to see the 2000 machine..how should I set up the SGI machine to communicate with the 2000 machine? should I use as an IP address the Gateway IP number or should I use a different IP number..or if there is no clear way..should I route it threw LinuX? I really just want the SGI machine to go directly into 2000...
Please help a frustrated tech....

I'm not sure I understand a couple of things here. I'll give you my interpretation of the situation and you can let me know if I'm right or not.
You have a computer with Linux installed, that is acting as a intermediary between a Win2K computer and an Irix computer. Your problem is that you can't access the Irix from the Win2K, nor the Win2K from the Irix. If I have this correct, then I have a couple of questions for ya, which I'll save until I find out if I am.
If I'm not correct, and you have things set up differently, then there are a few things I noticed that I wanted to ask.
The first thing is that you capitalized the "X" at the end of Linux both times you used this word. Is this on purpose, in which case, what is the difference b/t Linux and LinuX? You also capitalized Gateway both times you used this word as well. Again, same thing, Is this on purpose, and do you mean Gateway the computer manufacturer, or do you mean gateway, as in a router?

I gotta remember not to use my internet writting style when posting info on computers
I'll completely brake it down to you, with sample IP addresses...
I have 3 machines...
1)Win2000
IP: 193.10.255.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 193.10.255.5
2)WinNT/Linux
IP:193.10.255.2
3)SGI Indigo2
IP:193.10.255.3
Heres the problem...I want to use my Win2000 machine to be able to directly communicate with the 2 machines. I have the WinNT machine communicating already but the SGI machine can't communicate with either one.
I'm not sure if the IP address on my SGI machine should be the same as the default gateway that the Win2000 machine has, being that I haven't seen an option for a default gateway on the SGI machine.
An alternative I was thinking about was to use my Red Hat Linux server (machine #2) as a communication between the 2 machines, being that Linux can see both types of machines. But I really want to avoid having to turn on and login 3 computers to transfer 1 file...So I'm hoping I can find a way to communicate between the SGI and Win2000 machine.
All of this is going threw a Hub useing TCP/IP..
Hope you can help me out!! ThanXX
