Okies.. So, Computers are 100% able to do this,..
it's just the matter of the OS now.
I have the C drives set to SHARED.. and such,
2 of the computers with windows 2000 connect very well, except the one with windows 95 doesn't even RECOGNIZE the others
when i try to map the network drive, using windows 2000 connecting to win95.. it says the workgroup (or station) i forget.. is currently in use. or unaccessible (i forget again)
anyone know whats wrong?
thanks

It's probably the computer name that is in use
Go into network properties and change the computer name

First of all, from the Win95 computer, ping the two Win2K computers, and make sure you have proper TCP/IP connectivity. After you have established this, then you can check to see who's the boss in this little network. Type "nbtstat -n" at the command prompt from one of the Win2K computers. At this point, I want to know how you have these computers networked together. Is it through a router? Or is one computer acting as a router? If going through a router, you may have to configure it to forward broadcast messages in order to browse the other computers. This however, would not prevent you connecting to the computer by IP address, so you can try that as well. Let me know if this helps any, and let us know the details of the layout of the network.

It seems i don't need this anyhow..
I just took the hard drive out of the one computer, and attached it to the other one.. and in about an hour got it working..
woulda taken me longer to network the damn things..
thanks anyways =/

First off...
On the 2000 machine..is it useing NTFS or FAT?
Win95 cannot see NTFS...another thing that comes to mind...did you share the 2000 dives?
and when I mean share I mean by clicking on the "New Share" button on the sharing properties...heres another are you using only TCP/IP or is it a combination?
If it's only TCP/IP you have to make a DNS setup on the 2000 machine and the 95 machine..I know that 95 has issues trying to commuinicate with 2000 is you don't set your TCP/IP correctly..
Give me your setup..I already have my 2000 and Win95B machine communicating..I'll give you a hand.. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

When networking, regardless of protocol a 95 box can access a share on a NT box running with NTFS, as long as the shares are there, and appropriate permissions are applied. Of course, what ever protocols you are using, they have to be setup correctly.
