[RESOLVED] Can't see Win98/98se boxes from Win ME box....

Ok, I just browsed thru quickly to see if this question had been posted, and didn't see any similar....,so if this sounds repetitive to you "regulars", my sincere apologies. :-)

Here goes: ISDN router set up for I-net connection, which also acts as my DHCP server. Have 4+ Win98/98se comps, 1 WinNT-W box and 1 WinNT Server all set up on the network. All seem to be configured properly, obtain their own IPs from the DHCP server, and connect to the Internet & each other w/ no probs. No probs there.

But, I recently added an WinME box to the network. Although I have set up this box with the same parameters as well, I cannot view the ME drive shares from ANY of the other machines. The ME box can view ALL other comps & shares on this network w/ no probs. The ME box is showing up in Net-Neighborhood on all other comps on the network, but when acessed, none of the drives shared on the ME box are visible (0 objects).

File & Print Sharing is enabled, the ME box drives have been named and shared full-access, and all else seems to be ok.

Am I overlooking something here, or just missing something in WinME itself that will enable the shares to be seen from all the other boxes???

Again, my apologies if this seems monotonous to you kind folks,...been a LONG time since I've been in the forums, so I've kinda lost touch.

Sounds like browser trouble. As in the master browser. You might want to try troubleshooting with the nbtstat tool.

If you are not familiar with this tool, just type nbtstat -n at the the command prompt at each computer. Look for an entry for _MSBROWSE_

Whatever computer is on this line is who that computer considers the Master Browser (the one that keeps the list of all the shares.) You can quickly test to see if this is the problem by going to Start->Run
{computername of ME box}\{sharename}

and see if you can access the share that way. If so, you may want to disable the browsing master on the ME box.
