I did this network and they have Daniels@home cable. It is one way.I ran the cat 5 and installed a Dlink 4 port 10/100 hubZThe main pc works fine throught the hub and the internet. They purchased 2 IPs as well. The second computer ia a Viao laptop and I installed a 3COM 10/100 PCMCIA card in it.Setup networking and couln not connect. So I set up through the network with this setup to test connection:
PC TOWER:10.0.0.1
255.255.255.0
Laptop: 10.0.0.2
255.255.255.0
Shared some folders and rebooted both systems and yes I could see all and access all....
But I lost my internet now because of the IP switch. They actually don't give you an IP, they give you Computer name to use and I believe DHCP resolves it.Anyways,I switched back the settings on the tower so they could use the internet for the weekend.
How would the Laptop upload?
Bridge the Phone line part and run one to the laptops onboard modem?
That would suck cause I would have the crawl in that damn attic again...... Hot!! 95 outside good 120/130 in there....
Any advice is greatly appreciated.I was gonna use a router but they purchased 2 IP's
Thanks all
