Alright, I have a plan for a server that Im unsure will work, please let me know how much of this is possible. I have a server that I would like to fill with network cards, and bring in two DSL lines to. Then, have that server route those two DSL connections (768k each) to the three computers on my network. In addition, I would to be able to set DIFFERENT bandwidth limitations for different computers (1000k for one, and 250k for the other two). It seems to me that this would be logical, but before I attempted it I thought I would ask someone. Thanks for your help!

The Bandwidth Rules are all very possible but not with that setup per say. Making the bandwidth rules with some type of proxy software is easy its just that the one computer getting 1000k is not going to get that throughput exactly. You could run OSPF (or one of the other routing protocols, my routing protocols knowledge is a little out of date to say the least) between the two connections and you might get a combined 1000k connections but you would not be able to download something at 1000k, you could download something at 768 possibly and be somewhere else on the other dsl connection but as far as I know, you cannot combine the connections to act as one.

you could do this with a router and a proxy.

I can do what with a router and proxy, everything including combining bandwith? I dont want to use a router, i would rather just use the server i have now. How can i setup bathwidth limitations for certain computers?

Help,
I just got my network stuff and Im ready to get everything set up...cards are installed...drivers are fine...im loging on with client for ms network, all local hdds are shared.. on all computers on the net...workgroup is the same, computer name is diff. funny thing is when i open up network neighborhood on one computer, it sees itself ok, on the other it comes up unable to access the network, I go to network properties and look at the settings, they are fine, try opening up network neighborhood and it sees itself fine. reboot however and back to the error, i check the settings and again it sees itself, (i dont change any of the settings. just view them)

Obviously you are going to do this with routing and remote access. Do you have 2k as your server or NT? If 2k then have you looked in the help file? The win2k helpful is actually quite useful. Also, checkout www.labmice.net where they may have this already written out for you. Microsoft.Com is another very helpful resource for accomplishing your goal.
You asked us if it is possible and I said yes for the most part. Time to do your homework ;)
