Okay, i want to run the voice chat command in MSN (i know it sucks but....its for a customer) through a Linksys home Router

i belive the only thing i will have to do is open the ports.

does anyone out there know which ports? and whether this will work or not? thanks

this is straight from Practillynetworked.com. They have a whole bunch of info on getting stuff to work with that router.

here's the port lists for MSN Messenger :
MSN Messenger
(Watch Out! Opens a wide port range!)
NOTE: Shut off any personal firewall programs such as BlackIce, ZoneAlarm, etc.
Ports 6891-6900 enable File send,
Port 6901 is for voice communications
Allows Voice, PC to Phone, Messages, and Full File transfer capabilities.
Thnx to Brad King & Bill Finch Jr.
IN TCP 6891 - 6900
IN TCP 1863
IN UDP 1863
IN UDP 5190
IN UDP 6901
IN TCP 6901

as far as I know, most home routers can allow voice communications as long as the other side (the one that doesn't have the router) issues the invitation.

One more thing, MSN works best when your LAN IP range is 192.168.1.x for some reason people had problems with 192.168.100.x and 10.x.x.x ranges and MSN ....
