DHCP Reservations

I just reserved a Win2k Pro workstation's IP address on a Win2k server and was wondering, do I need to hard-code the address on the workstation? Curious.

Win2K reservations are based on the MAC address of the NIC in the client. No configuration needs to be done at the client. As long as the reservation entry specifies the MAC address properly, that computer will always get the same IP. If you change the NIC, or move it then you would have to adjust your reservation entry.

If you wanted to manually control the IP, you just need to exclude that IP address from the DHCP address pool then enter it in at the client.
