netmeeting vid transfers -- what ports?

no vid with netmeeting and I don't think its their end -- what ports does netmeeting use to operate or do you have any ideas on what to check

I don't know if <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q158623&GSSNB=1" target="_blank">this</a> will help. I opened those ports on my router but it wouldn't let me connect to the directory. But at least it points ya in the right direction.

Now if it's video chat that you're looking for check out [http://www.eyeball.com]Eyeball Chat[/url] Only 4 ports to open and it works great. Plus you can log into MSN messanger, Yahoo messanger and (supposedly) AOL IM.

I'll have to try those ports when I get home -- when I did a netstat -an it said it was running off of port 18xxx which I opened and (of course) no dice

It's a port list for special appss, netmeeting's on there. However, netmeeting is quite a hassle thru firewalls as it opens ALOT of ports and random ones too.

If you dont intend to do audio, just video, the only ports to open/forward are

1720
1731

for audio support, you have to open most everything else :( *like 1024-65535 yikes!*

Like I said <a href="http://www.eyeball.com" target="_blank">Eyeball Chat</a> has video abilities plus you can combine yahoo, msn and AIM all in the same app. To bad it doesn't have the white board or app sharing feature that netmeeting has.

Try a "netstat -a" in the cmd prompt when you're connected with netmeeting.

there's a few floeting around the net, i know black-ice's website has a comprhensiver list of ports but not sorted by programs.
