If I delete a file on a WinNT Server over a LAN from a win98 / winME machine, where does that file go.
I do not see it in the recycle bin on either machine. Does it go anywhere, or is it just gone!
Actually, it is more like an entire directory, not just 1 file

AFAIK when from a workstation you delete a file sitting on an NT server without a 3rd party utility it is gone. It actually is still on that HDD until it is overwritten but once again you will need a 3rd party to attempt to recover it.

The file still lives on the hard drive from which you originally deleted it. You'll need a 3rd party app like Wyckyd1 said. Winternals filerestore will do it.

It would still be on the drive that it originally existed on.
