Hi all, perhaps someone cleverer than myself [not hard] can point me in the right direction and save whats left of my receeding hairline.
I have purchased an ADSL Ethernet router from dabs.com in the UK model AMX-CA64E a dabs value range item.
http://www.dabs.com/products/prod-search.asp?action=search&refp=AMX-CA64E+&mid=010&tid=334&ob=manufacturer&obd=asc&stab=ref&p=&lp=&up=&mc=&sc=&Refine.x=38&Refine.y=15
[Looking at the FCC id its actually made by www.cnet.com/tw model CNAD 804-NF]
Anyway after a couple of days trying to configure the ADSL connection I finally managed to get it working, sort of.
I can use the home network alright and all connection appear stable and I can get it to connect to the British Telecoms PPPoA non statically assigned IP after much tweaking,as the manual leaves a lot to be desired.
Having done all this I can ping both local and web based addresses with no problem, search local files and folders but only connect via IE or Opera to a website typing the IP address i.e. 216.167.96.118 opens sygates site but typing http://www.sygate.com giver the unable to communicate etc screen.
i`m sure its something simple to do with one of these DNS,NAT things that are confusing me to bordom, anybody please help me before I have to turn all my favorites to numbers to achieve connection.
