I know it's a beat question, but I don't want to buy crap. Anyway, what does everyone think is the best Cable/DSL Multiport Router? Thanks in advance...

I really like the Linksys, although if you are installing a small network somewhere that has NO networking to start with, I like to use the Kingston 4-port Internet Router....It is decently priced, comes with 2 NIC's and eliminates the need to buy a hub!!

Linksys routers come with a 4 or 8 port 10/100 switch too.

I use the Linksys' myself. You can check their whole router product line here.

I understand that the SMC Barricades are also pretty good, although I have never used one myself.

I like the Netgear RT314 myself. Also have 4 FA311 NIC cards, a PS110 print server, and an FE104 4-port hub from them as well. Sturdy METAL boxes for just a little more than the LinkSys. However if money is a priority, I've heard that LinkSys is very good too.

I use the linksys 4 port router and I haven't had any problems with it......

Well there was one collision, but that could happen to any product. :D

I personally use the d-link - a five port switch, one port WAn and a serial port for a modem backup.

I've used both the linksys (http://www.linksys.com) and netgear (http://www.netgear.com) routers and have no complaints with either one.

Did anybody mention Linksys yet?

That would be the one I would recommend.

I'm a big-time Netgear fan. Good equipment, and the cases are solid metal and HEAVY. No crappy lightweight plastic that warps or cracks. After I bought my first 4-port 10BaseT hub, I've never bought anyone else's networking equipment. Nothing like a router than can safely double as chocks for your car!
