Asus P5 A-B mobo,
K6/2 3d 500Mhz,
128mg of Ram,
WD 40gig HDD,& WD 10gig HDD,
Lite On 24xCDWR,(Nero software) and 48xCDRom

I just upgraded to 40gig HDD and put Lite-On 24xCDWR to this machine. The machine was working fine with 10gig WD HDD and Yamaha 4XCDWR.
I was able to burn only 2 cds after the upgrade. One was from cpy to cpy and another one through HDD. Now computer will freeze on me everytime I try to burn CDs. It wont respond until I restart it. Lite on 24x burner works fine as I was using it with other computer. Its a great CD-burner.
The computer will only recognise and the following IDE arrangement during the POST start up.

Primary Master--WD 40gig HDD
Primary slave--CDWR
Secondary Master--WD 10gigHDD
Secondary Slave--CDrom.

I try to swap around IDE arrangement without luck.
Please help me.

What exactly happens when you try a different IDE configuration. Are all IDE devices detected by BIOS?

The Primary master and slave are not detected at all in the BIOS when I tried other IDE configs.

Did you check the jumpers?

Try reinstalling the ASPI layer from Adaptecs Website.

Jumpers on HDD/CDs are fine. As I said before, the computer is working fine, It only stall/freeze when I burn cds.
