I have a windows me and suddenly my cd rom vanished and there is no problems with the cabe as i checkedthe cable and in my system the sysedit file is also not showing so please help me for the same,.

In WinME, you don't really get to tweak the startup quite the way you do in 95/98. I think its possible that you have gotten the NYB virus. Are you running any virus scan software? Try booting to DOS mode, preferrable with a boot floppy, and run the command FDISK/MBR
Reboot your system normally into Windows and see if that takes care of it.
