Been reading around about the plextor 40 12 40, most interestingly about its ability to write to 99min cds. Unfortunately reviews seem to contradict.
Has anyone got one and succesfully written 99mins of data to the correct medium??
or is it limited to the 95min mark as i read somewhere, cdrinfo.com i think.
I've got one arriving monday and am hoping to be able to stick all my southpark episodes onto two 99min disks. my current dying drive is wholely incapable.

and its lack of ability to read the correct speed of "non branded" cd-r media ,,,i was toying with a plextor untill i read a websire review , plex v lite-on ,,,,and went with the lite-on ,,,,personal choise i know ,,,i actually use a plex 40 scci cd reader - and it will read a cd with a dog %erd on it. if u use nero (or any other good prog) u should be able to set overburn + disk at once (not highly advertised)

the lite-on is GOOD ,,and if u wish u can also upgrade the firmware from 32/40/48 - although mine is a 40 , and that is fast enough (the difference is 28 secs per 700meg between 40 / 48)

mine is used manly for duplication of VCD (of corse legal) , i leave mine on 16 speed using vcdeasy ,,,,and there are NO failures ,,,compere that to the mitsumi,s 2x of about 3-4 years ago using diabolicle software ,,, with no burnproof ,,,thats why i went scci ,,,,,you have all got "cushy" lives now with your £50 - 48 speed burners !!!!!
as we are in a throw away society , if the lite-on does 12 month i think with the money earned (although i should not say that) i will be happy.

on the subject of vcds, do you know of an app that changes mpeg parameters such as the resolution without having to recompress.
I've got a load of films mpeg format, v large files(mpeg2??, res480,576, 3 files each one abour 730meg) and would like to change the res down to .dat, pal, svcd standard.
I usually use xmpeg but the most recent version has no option to output to vcd format..

goto www.vcdhelp.com ., left hand side / tools many hours of reading , but try dvdx )not divx) 1.8 can alter sise on that , then for burning use vcdeasy (try with a re ritable first to set up)

have mentioned this subject before , but it is fround on by mods (legality) ,,,,

if the subject is worth discussing (on a legal stance) then i will gladly discuss my methods and templates etc
