I personally like Nero, works well in Win9x, but It doesnt like my plextor in win2k, but thats something Plextor and Via are trying to resolve, nothing to do with nero.

Have you tried the latest version of EasyCD creator? BTW, there is no free upgrade from version 3.5c or lower to version 4.x. So if you got the old version or bought a bare OEM drive with no software, you are going to have to fork over some dough to get the burning software.

Adaptec (Roxio) is also coming out with version 5 of their Easy CD Creator software. I don't know too many details, but this is what I've received from one of their newsletters:

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
About That Special Offer

You know, the one on the forthcoming Easy CD Creator 5, that I've been
promising to our loyal registered users of previous versions. (If you
just joined us and don't know what I'm talking about, please see
previous messages in the Roxiowin list archives at
<http://listserv.roxio.com>)

Let me explain how this will work:

1. This will be a special upgrade package of Easy CD Creator 5 Deluxe,
plastic-wrapped, containing only a disc and a manual. No fancy box. It
will be offered to registered users of previous versions of Easy CD
Creator at a special discount price - but not free!

2. Due to manufacturing constraints, this upgrade kit will be available
several weeks after the full retail packages arrive on store shelves.
You won't receive the specific details of the offer until the upgrade
packages are available, so don't be surprised if you see Easy CD Creator
5 on store shelves even before you hear from us about the offer (or, as
some people already have, see it reviewed on TechTV and in magazines).

3. This special offer is available only directly from Roxio, and the
special upgrade price will not be available on store-bought packages. If
you rush out and buy a retail package, we cannot give you a special
discount on it.

4. Translated versions of Easy CD Creator will be available some weeks
after the English release, and the translated upgrade kits will be even
later than that. (We wish this wasn't the case, but...). So the special
upgrade offer email will go out first to folks in North America, and
those of you in the rest of the world will receive it later, when your
upgrade kits actually become available.

I hope that clarifies things. If you have further questions, please feel
free to ask me. We want to make sure that everyone knows exactly what
they're entitled to, and no one is disappointed.

And, for those who've asked for more details about Easy CD Creator 5...
stay tuned!

I use Nero. At first it had problems with Windows 2000, but downloaded the latest version and I love it.

Use Easy Cd Creator at work and I don't like it.

I used Adaptec for the longest time, now that I've started using Nero, my coaster rate is nearly zero, using the same brand CD's. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm1.gif

Roxio (adaptec) version 5 is out and two systems that were being very strange have returned to happy burning by uninstalling Easy CD Deluxe 4 and installing the new version. Haven't had any coasters on my own system using Adaptec and burning at 16X or previously using any drive faster than my old 4X burner ages ago...

Its real simple here Nero 5.0 by far is the best. Wincdr can be used for playstation games and whatnot.... http://www.cdrsoft.com is one of the best websites there is to read up and test the new software. But dont take my word for it look for yourselves. Test for yourselves happy burning..DeRf
