I have some user's at work who I want to be able to back up some of there data onto a CDR. If I install the software on there system to copy to my CDR can this be done.
user's have lap top's and the CDR will bev installed in my desktop. Will I be able to copy from one location to my desktop where the CDR is installed. I think I know how but wanted to make sure. need informationon how to do this.

You could do it the other way round. Connect the laptops up via a LAN and map the Laptop drive, then using the software on your own system, copy the data needed to your CDRW. If you do it this way, burn at a slow speed as the data transfer speed over the network will be slower than what it would be off of your own HDD.

The lap top is connected through the lan , these user's log on every day .

Then follow Darren's plan...and depending on your backup software, you can backup directly to your burner without having to use your current burner software. This would allow you to do scheduled backups...Veritas sells backup software that would do this.

I thought I had to use the CD burner software that we use called adaptec easey cd creator 4.02d. So it is possiable to not use this and just copy directly to the burner. Thanks for all yout tips guys.

You could also format CDRW media and then just drag and drop using Windows Explorer...
