OK.. i have a "white box" verson of the acer 8x4x32 cd-rw burner. The Thing only works in 8x mode with adaptec when using 650mb cds. If i use an 80 min (700mb) then i have to use 4x!!! i have tried LOTS of brands of 80min cd's. is this a limit of the 80min cd?? they say they are ok up to 16x but my drive and easycd only works to 4x wont even give me a choice of 8x anymore. But if I put in a 74min cd.. all id fine.

anyideas?

Apparently, your drive doesn't fully support overburning. I don't think I'd replace the drive for 6 minutes of extra music per disk.

I have a 10/4/32 ACER rewritable and just flashed the firmware and fixed the 80 minute problem. See if yours has a firmware fix, if not, its as Sowulo said it doesn't support overtime cds.
