Too much gaming when:

You've memorized every aspect of a level and are fully capable of describing what you would see from any point in that level.

Staying awake for 24 hours at a LAN party sounds like fun.

You own a Quake bumper sticker.

You use the word "0wn3d" in everyday speech.

You've ever gotten into an argument over the best DM level in a game.

You've ever got everyone to agree that Q2DM1 "The Edge" is the best DM level, ever.

You know how to get to the megahealth in Q2DM1 without rocket-jumping.

You know know excactly what rocket-jumping is.

You spend 10 minutes coming up with examples for a "Too much gaming" thread.

Along the same lines (sort of) perhaps it means I play too many race games, but...

I have two cases painted Red with yellow stripes and Ferrari logos and another with the '89 Circuit Board Mercedes paint scheme.

I actually changed lanes on an onramp from the onramp into traffic by locking the back tires and over steering to the right, went in sideways with a little smoke off the tires, straightened out and realised what I'd just done, I could all of the sudden hear my heart beating... this was last wednesday, after playing Grand Turismo2 all night. Not a good feeling. But I can laugh about it now.

When you walk around K-mart and other shops and you keep trying to stay out of the closed circuit security camera's for fear of being spotted...

(After playing the "Crusader" series all week)

Also when you complain that single player games now only take you three work nights of playing (about 8 hours each night) to finish.

I am not that hardcore a video gamer now... but I used to be...

Examples of how I used to be too much of an RPG and strategy gamer:

-Can still copy out the full-page Ships Systems Diagram of the Klingon D7 Battlecruiser from memory (last looked at said diagram in 1991)

-You have a simple, 15 step series of tests (beating out your best friend's 18-steps) that determines what sort of magic ring you have found

-You have lost track of how many gaming dice you own (over 300 last count)

-You STILL have the text to every Magic card in the first 15 expansions of the game memorized... even though you sold your collection a year ago...

-You still plan to punch Tom Hanks if you ever meet him for that role in Mazes & Monsters

-You have figured out realistically what your own Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, etc. scores really would be...

Yeah. The phenomenon continues. It's just been rendered digital. http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum1/noncgi/biggrin.gif
