Hi, I got Rob Zombie's new album about a week ago "Sinister Urge" and i gotta say it rocks, its gotta be some of his best work yet, although living dead girl is still my favourite to date, Has anyone else come across a new album that they have really liked latley? i ask because i find very little that i like anymore and im wondering whats happened to the music industry in the past 4-6years?

Linkin Parks CD rocks. Of course I don't know how new that would be... I wish I knew who did the song. I call it the "Married Mans Anthem". The chorus goes "Take away this ball and chain." Sounds like a good beer drinking song.

POD's new one is kind of ok. Get's on my nerves after a while. I think Offspring has a new one out. They're always good. (Of course it may just be a single from a movie.)

I'm with you though. All the new stuff just doesn't do it for me. I've found myself going back to some classics. Metallica, Pearl Jam, (Old) White Zombie. I think I'm getting old. :p

I thought I was just getting old (which is still possible) For me I haven't been "into" music for almost 8-10 years. I remember watching 120min on MTV every sunday and hearing great new music. Now everyone just sounds the same. Now I don't even know if it's on anymore and the last time I watched it, it absolutely stunk. I remember being excited to get my rolling stone every month.
Now I just stick to my favorites (Matthew Sweet, Michael Penn, Concrete Blonde [sadly I doubt I'll see new album from them ever] and others) and pick up their work when new albums come out. I don't even bother with the radio anymore. If mine is on, it's on the AM dial and sports talk.
I tried the "alternative" station here in pittsburgh PA and they play the same stuff that's on the TOP 40 stations minus the hip hop (creed may have been alternative at one time, but they aren't anymore - and they certainly don't belong on the classic rock station.) so I guess I'm out of the loop. I kind of feel bad for the pre teens and teens these days, they haven't had and probably won't have a band or album that ends up being "essential" At least my generation had "TEN" and "NEVERMIND"

You should really check out Sevendusts new album. That album spends the most time in my CD player.. If you don't have Sevendusts previous 2 albums you defiantly want to check them out too.

That would be Social Distortion. Song's called "Ball and Chain", it's on their self-titled CD from 1990.

see ya

I'm with you there. I can't remember the last time I bought a CD.. However, I've been waiting since the beginning of the year for a Philly band called Tapping the Vein to release their album..The singer Heather Thompson has a great set of lungs, literally. She goes from cute and quite to full throtle roar..To bad they don't tour out west.

The last real concert I saw was Curve/Jesus and Mary Chain in Sacramento. Last live band I saw, I can't remeber their name. All I can remember is wondering why they had to play so loud.

Oh and I miss Concrete Blonde too!! Last I heard Johnette took over lead singer for Talking Heads...then blamo, nothing.

My favorite new thing at the moment is, by far, The Crystal Method's new one, Tweekend. As one of my dear friends would say, "It will ROCK your lame @ss!"

Lycia, kato....other Concrete Blonde fans....have you tried the "other" band with Johnette (after CB)? Out of print now, I think, and not that great a listen IMO except for severely loyal fans. Go to Half.com (or somewhere) and look for <a href="http://www.half.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1809410&domain_id=1876" target="_blank">Pretty & Twisted</a>.

Also, Johnette's been producing <a href="http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1494870147/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=MARIA+FATAL/itemid=1337908" target="_blank">Maria Fatal</a>, who have some obvious CB influences in their music. Not a guarantee you'll like them just because you're a Blonde fan, but a possibility. The lyrics are all in Spanish.

AND...check this out...<a href="http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1494870147/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/ArtistID=CONCRETE+BLONDE/ITEMID=1486661" target="_blank">Group Therapy</a>, a NEW ALBUM that's supposed to be out in January! No joke. <a href="http://www.livedaily.citysearch.com/news/4118.html" target="_blank">Check out this article.</a>

Ahhhhhh....I can't wait!

Actually, I like her spanish flavoured songs more than the CB sound. My fav is still "Bajo La Luna Mexicana" (Under the Mexican Moon)

Thanks. I'm putting that on my list of must haves. Wonder if I can turn it up louder than my wife can scream at me...?

this is pretty soft next to the stuff y'all are liking, But my favorite band is Creed. Their new CD "weathered" is awesome. They are the only group I listen to that I can put all three CD's in my deck and listen at max volume all the way through. It's like I can feel the music. Ok, enough rambling.

CREED ROCKS!
