Well I talked to my supervisor and told him that I was told that if I got my MCP I would get a raise and that if there was no raise coming that I would be disassociating my MCP from the company. That was a week and a half ago. This morning I was terminated (with 2 dozen systems down and in different stages of repaire). Reason given not eneough work to justify the need for 2 network admins.

It may not appear that way now, but consider yourself lucky that you no longer have to suffer with such dysfunctional management.
At least they did right by terminating a position, not "firing" you. That's not going to affect your reputation then.
Good luck finding a new (and much better) position! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Still it was annoying to be escorted out of the building like a criminal.

If they are unable/unwilling to at least give you a decent letter of referal....
...sounds like time for some justified retribution. A casual call to the BSA is highly recommended.. and further calls to appropriate parties if they continue to advertise their MCP status...

Like some one was saying above, adept I think, They can NOT hire a replacement for you, I don't think...
If they eliminate your job, they can not hire another person to do it. I would see if some one in your company who is friends with you can find out. Then I would speak to a lawyer...Hell, I would go to legal aide and get some advice...

I`m sorry you lost your job and I agree with the previous posts in that if the reason give either verbally or in writing for the redundancy was the retirement of the position you held due to overmanning, then they are legally held not to hire another person for that position.
If they do rehire for exactly the same postiton they could be held as having acted illegally under your contract of employment and againt state or national law.
If they have an overmanning problem then the procedure of retiring the position needs to be fullfilled by the companys to stay within the employment laws.
I would suggest you reread your employmant contract and any written material that was provided for your dismisal.
The reason for the security attendance during your exit whilst not nice is not unusual,it is down to security measures and happens in most situations regarding sensitive company material and access to such.

I'm assuming you got some sort of severance pay then, since you didn't get the expected notice of termination before that day?

Finish your MCP/MCSE and pay those ba$*ards a little visit. Show them your cert then give them the finger on the way out.
Then go slam a 12 pack and celebrate.
