You know I've seen this before and will probably see all of this again before time is said and done.

I run whats called a MOO a text based RPG on the net. So I'm familiar with, those in charge, attitudes as well as the "player/end user/helper/whatnot attitude.

This insanity has gone way to far. Everyone is wondering what everyone else is thinking. Everyone is worried about everyone else. Guys.. Were all supposed to be friends.

Two things come to mind:
Surely we must stand togther or surely we will all hang seperatly. <-- this implies that as ops and/or voiced people we should do our best to help those who need help and even if we do not agree with someone on another do. PM's and DCC chats do exist for private converstations.

The other thing is were sposed to all be at least associates if not net-friends. So, joking, kidding, its all good. If it bothers you ask us to take it to private.

STOP THE DAM WHINGING.
I don't mean the, why is this like this, or why is this going on. I mean the snide comments I've seen SEVERAL people make when something doesn't go there way.

I could rant here for ours but lets all remember this is a public place and we will have the whiners, the troublemakers and the helpers. Thats why we have ops and I think voiced people. I sometimes thing that if we all steped back and looked at how we percieve others and how they percieve use might learn something. Help out guys. EVERYONE be it in the forums, or the chat room. Joking is cool, there is just a time and place for everything and troulbe making is never warrented or wanted. That includes bad advice.

The Dragon hoping this isn't his last post or chat room visit.

Shadow Dragon

I heartily sympathise. BUT

When you are just reading a set of words, you put your own implication on. If you are in a bad mood, you are likely to read the message between the lines as a bad one. Of course, if you are in a good mood, then you only see the good side.

Many people using Windrivers are stressed beyond belief by their work, their bosses or their customers and here is a nice anonymous place to blow off at the world in general. Unfortunately this creates a chain reaction and suddenly you got a whole load of people losing it for no good reason.

The only way to cope with it is to say to yourself, "uhuh, so s/he had a bad day too" and leave it at that. Arguments can only start if there are two sides.

The moderators will edit/delete any posts in the forums that are outside the bounds of Windrivers Policy. The chatroom moderators have the job of trying to talk an angry person down first, and then remove him/her if it doesn't work.

The more people get angry about people being angry, the worse it all becomes.

Every one step back one pace and realise, you are only looking at the words, not the person - you cannot see if the person is smiling or frowning so don't assume they feel as bad as you do.

I think I may have mis-represented my point. I agree with the mods and I agree with whats going on. I just think some folks are doing exactly what your saying to NOT do. Taking things out of context and out of hand and VERY personal.

Or to make my post in simpler terms. CHILL people it ain't all that.

I think I may have missed something here,
but if your saying that the Mod's are just doing there job and trying to maintain some kind of order, peace, and hamony, While trying to keep everything running smoothly
and within the Company policies. Your right!

And Thank you!
Jim

ShadowDragon, I couldn't agree more and I know what you're trying to say.

I'm afraid that I haven't really seen the whining that people are mentioning. So as a result I feel that these boards are much better than any others I have been on. I wonder if people are being a little sensitive about the situation. I'm not flaming anyone, just trying to provide another viewpoint.

Most of the whiners like the one who got Darren's ire today (see: http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=17&t=005543 ) absolutely amaze me. Here is someone looking for FREE help and then getting pi$$y if it isn't given quickly enough or whatever else they had in mind. I'd just as soon ban them than give them any further help with their problem. As it is, we all help thousands of people specifically and who knows how many guests that just come in, search for the help and then leave. And all of us know how many actually respond with a simple, "Thanks, this is what solved my problem, your help is really appreciated." Right. Very few compared to the number helped. So someone doesn't like the way things are done here....Tough. Go hire someone!

People just need to cool off, think before they post, and remember that every name and avatar on here has a REAL person with REAL feelings behind it. Its all too easy to think you can say whatever you want just because you are "anonymous".

i cannot believe that people are getting worked up about this. I appreciate that some people are inconsiderate and rude and very demanding, but on the whole I have really "enjoyed" being part of the windrivers experience!

When i get peeved i sit back and chill. Life is too short to let the stress of bad mouth ingrates upset me, and there have been a few.

Please, lets get back to the way it was; everyone having fun and enjoying the "windrivers experience"

NB for JVAGUY: there's a quote you can use: "windrivers experience"...??? ;)

Well, I must add that this site has helped so many people out there, and voice and op's should work together to maximise the efficiency of the forums and chat.

Around the globe, people seeking help and this site is the future. Lets keep it up!

Funny that this is posted ShadowDragon....it was pointed out to me recently that I was starting to take this stuff too seriously. So I have scaled back on my WinDrivers use. I still plan to help, but I am learning that it is okay to be away from the site for more than 5 minutes. No, really, I mean it. And the biggest flame one could muster on here will in no way effect the fact that I will sit down at the dinner table tonight with my wife and daughter. Why don't we all just enjoy the best tech site on the Web?

:)
