I was wondering who all wore there seat belts?

In mine they are on or it doesn't move, that includes friends, family, gf parents everyone. I have seen first hand what happens when you don't.
I always wore it before. But after what I saw, I will never forget and it makes me relive how stupid some people are for not using them.

I am a seat belt survivor, if it weren't for seat belts, I wouldn't be around. When I was around 10, the family was cruising through downtown in the station wagon when a small hatchback T-boned us, almost into the passenger door. The other car missed a stop sign because a van was parked in front of it. We were OK, but the two guys in the other car were not. All I can remember is looking in the other car and seeing blood and broken glass everywhere.

They were not wearing seat belts.

Buckle up or walk.

I did some off road rally when I was younger and flipped a few times. No seatbelts = Death.

It is also beyond my comprehension why in some states you can ride a motorbyke without a helmet.

in the UK it has been legal from the early 70s ,to wair a crash helmet at all times ,,,,we have had the towel heads try to get out of it. ,,,,they did,nt.

RE: cars in a normal car u must ware a s/belt ,,,,£50.00 fine ,,if u don,t.

in a van or "local delivery" you do not have to (ie: milkfloat) ,,,,I am glad to say that most "cops" give u a hand sign rather than "doing" you.

RE: rallying , I was involved in "stage" - forrest rallying ,,,,and at all times wore a 6 point harness ,,,,,that has saved my life ,,several times

Everyone who's got one. One of my cars doesn't have any in the back, but it's getting them fitted as soon as I work out how.

In Alabama it's the law for the front seat, but everyone I am close to wears one anyway. Those that don't, I won't make them, but I won't be responsible for them dying either.

really I didn't know that, All cars sold sience at least 1975 has HAD to have had them, by law here in the US!!

in addition I would like to add this,
I apologize if anyone was offended by my first rant. I have had a rough week. I have been a firefighter for close to 2 years now, I in my dept we also respond to medical calls and car accidnets, last thursday I responded to a bad addient where a 14 yrd girl didn't make it and another 17 yrd girl is in serous condition, (with a rummor that she has passed away)I have been on other accidnets where the patient didn't make it, but this girl was 14. She and the other girl didn't have there seat belt on. The driver walked away, and she was treated and released that day.

The reson why all others in my car where there seat belt is cause the 14 yrd was the drivers sister. I don't want to live with the thought that my pasanger could have lived if I were a bit more stuborn, my friends mean to much to me to let that slide.

I will always wear them no matter where I am in a car. In my car, manditory, but if I am in your car, I'll buckle up but I won't preach to you about it. You can make up your own mind.

As for people who don't. Its up to you, if you want to have your brains splattered, then hey, you removed your genes from the genepool, thus you won't be able to teach your kids why you should use them.
Survival of the smartest. ;)

I live 1 mile from the British Transport Research Laboratories... it means we get to see all the latest research on the local news when no grannies are being robbed.

Its pretty scary, but proves the point, seatbelts save lives.

The latest campaign is getting people to belt up in the back because the force of a person from the back seat coming forward and hitting the driver will kill the driver.

very "sick" advert , that one on UK TV ,,,"you know the person who killed you" ,,,,and then your ?year son hits the back of your driver,s seat ,,,and chucks u into the steering wheel/wind screen.

that ad is not a joke , and frightens me every time I see it,

If the belts are there (as the UK) in the back THEN USE THEM

Since a few months ago I have ALWAYS made sure everyone in my car has belted up prior to moving off. I in the past I admit if i sat in the back of a car I didnt belt up but my views have since changed a helluva lot.

I arrived at the scene of a accident a few months back about 30 seconds after it happened 2 cars were involved one hitting the other side on. 2 people in one of the cars didnt have there belts on, both banged up badly, one of which was a small girl about 7 years old. When I got to her she wasnt breathing and her heart had stopped. I got her out of the car and attempted CPR I saw on TV a while back. What pi$$ed me off no-one stopped to help me, So I was on the mobile getting talked through by the 999 operator. I manged to keep this up until the paramedics arrived and took over. I later found out she was already dead. The mother in the car is still in hospital and wont ever be making a full recover with the amount of bleeding she had in her head. The people in the other car were a bit sore and bashed but they all walked away.

Just because of this I have done the following.

1.Always wear a seat belt even for short journeys.

2.Signed up for first aid classes. I keep thinking I could of done more for the kid and if I did she might of made it. I was told there was nothing anyone could of done to change the outcome. Still it doesnt make me feel any better.

Cheers

As stated in the previous post, use them even on short trips. Remember, the most dangerous mile is the one right in front of you.
Plus, it gives the cops one less reason to pull you over.

It's the law in Texas, front seats = you gotta wear 'em. Since my car only has two seats, it don't move unless everyones buckled up. By the same token, in Texas, you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

My reasons for wearing seatbelts(and everyone else in the car) are twofold.

1. They are required by law and they saved me and my wife's lives when I rolled my pickup in England(Swindon in Wiltshire)

2. Since I am in the military, if I get into an accident and it is determined that I was not wearing a seatbelt, the military will not cover my medical expenses or pay out on my life insurance(in the case of death).

I totally understand that seatbelts saves lives. and all that stuff.
The one thing that I dont get is why not make a law that you are not to carry guns with you ever those kill. why not have a law where they never let child molesters outof prison ever why not just kill them ,They kill ,they hurt it can save lives. Why not make it a law that you are not to run while carring a knife.
That would save lives. Why not make it a law that sky diving without a chute is illegal That would save lives.
That women who bare children then abondon them and make them go thu hell homeless and a orphan who take their own lives illegal that would save lives..
Did I just ramble on about all the stuff that is just common sense and should someone be smart enough they will do the right thing.
Yes.
But Laws that were made to protect us are not always enforced. With such a seatbelt law , I think was just another attempt at making a pullover a lot easier and justified and making a extra buck.
I see nothing wrong with people who wear their seatbelts ,its for saftey issues.
I know the horrors that can happen when I dont put the strap around my body. Thats my insanity that I have to deal with.

Seatbelts here and properly fastened too i might add, I have a 3 inch scar on my nose where i had the shoulder belt behind me and my face hit the dashboard when i was like 5 or 6.

When i get into the car, the seatbelt always goes on, sometimes if i'm just using Armor-All for the insides (a good habit gone bad) :) Just like locking the door when i get out of the car, its a reflex.

And you end up locking your keys in the car. I used to have this habit, I finally broke it after four years of not driving on a regular basis, and now using ONLY the keyless remote for my car to lock the doors. The bad part is, all my future cars will have to have a remote.

I always wear mine and it is up to everyone else in the car unless they are younger than me... then it's my decision (read, on).

Always wear my seat belt, i can't think of a reason not to; it's like smoking, when you smoke you are not 100% sure you are going to get cancer, but it's a heck of a lot higher.
