These damn punk kids are tearing it up all over the neighborhood in their loud scooters :shaking fist in air like a grumpy old man: A few years ago, these scooter things started becoming popular. Then I started noticing kids attaching motors to the scooter. Now I'm starting to see kids with these scooters that basically have been modified into complete scooter-motorcycles. Like they got maybe a 5+ horsepower engine, a seat, big sturdy wheels, handle bars. Where does it all end? Besides the noise pollution, and these vehicles not being regulated, there is so many problems I see here. First, the scooters should be registered. Why do I have to register my truck every year and these kids don't? Next they should have a drivers license to ride these things. I need one to drive my truck, so why don't these kids? These kids are tearin *** down the road going like 35-40mph on this little scooter with nothing more than a bicycle helmet to protect them. I'm pretty open minded about alot of stuff, but this just seems like it's starting to cross the line lately.

If they kill themselves doing it, then they remove their genes from the gene pool, and unable to pass their unintelligence on.
Where are the parents? Do they know they have these? Damn, when my kid gets a regualr bike, he'll be in a helmet, elbow and knee pads, leather pants and jacket, steele toed shoes, etc....

heheh. I was in the summer before college when those hit the streets at the local middle school. Obnoxious mofos. But then again, they are just like motorbikes, snowmobiles, and atv's. Things which kids grow out of once they get their license....and thats MUCH more dangerous.

Just to add a couple more things here. I just hope I'm not coming across as sounding like a grumpy old man. Maybe I'm just jealous because I didn't really have things exactly like this when I was that age. But I still think it shouldn't be legal to just go speed puttin around town on an unregistered air and noise polluting vehicle, with no license at such a young age.

True. with atv's, bikes, or sleds, most places you need to beable to drive, and other places you need to take a course and get a license.

Hey Webhead, what do the local police/state police have to say about those things? Here in SC, you're SUPPOSED to have a license for a moped or motor scooter. And the cops better not catch you on highway on an ATV!

Sorry think I started this one... It's all my fault. Y'see I got ****ed off seeing kiddies on microscooters everywhere trying to look cool, so I got one, took the back brake off and added a starter motor and gel battery.
Then everyone copied me.
That said, I know a guy with two r/c plane jet engines and an afterburner on one. No ****, that guy is crazy.

See, I don't think there's any regulation around here for it. There's not laws in place for it yet as it's relatively very new.
So it was you that started it all Outcoded!!! AHA, I knew it!! :D Now like I said before, don't get me wrong. I think it's hella cool and a great idea for a fun method of transportation,.. but at the same time very dangerous. If I was still age 12-17 or whatever, then I'd probably be riding one too. But I think it needs to be regulated somehow. Every other motor vehicle is regulated, so these must be too.

grr I feel your payne they do the same thing at my house.
I even called the cops and the cops said are they under 16? yes, are they going faster than 20 mph? yes. Are they whereing safty gear? No. This cop asked me all these questions and all of these kids were doing the things he said were illegal.
Then he said well call us up when they do it again, Im like WTF!!!
The noise is bad, but The real worry is these kids not knowing how to drive these things, they drive all over the road, cars almost hitting them. Very careless kids. Another thing is I CANT BELIEVE THE PARENTS ALLOW THEM TO RIDE THEM. If I was caught my pop would beat me ahhah, well Ill be grounded.
I remember when me and my friends would ride our motocycles on the street then got cought by the cops cause somone called us in. I know now why and I galde the person did, but I dont under stand why the cops wont stop them fom riding these things. To damn loud.

I totally agree. That's really my main concern here too (the safety factors). I can deal with the loud noise. I'll just crank up some tunes to block it out or something. But one of these days, some dumb *** kid is gonna be jammin down the road, getting all squirrely, get hit, go flying off this thing, crack his skull wide open,.. and then guess who gets sued and punished? That's right, the person who hit the kid. So Daemon,.. the cops wouldn't do anything huh? Well then I guess it's time to take matters into our own hands. Can anyone say "target practice"? 5 points for the little ones, 10 for the medium size kids, and 15 points for the big ones. :D
