A P4 running XP home (OEM) reboots when instructed to shut down.
It did this previously when a burner software was installed which was not XP ready.. We uninstalled it and it worked fine.
Now, after setting up a simple peer to peer network to a notebook (win98II) it is doing it again.. As far as I can tell no other driver software has been installed in the meantime that might have the same affect.

Anyone some thoughts on this? I saw an earlier post on the subject that seemd similiar to this..

Thanks

Power management settings? If this is a workstation/desktop machine then shut off the powermanagement in the BIOS and withing XP.

First off, XP reboots because it crashed and got a blue screen. If you want to see the blue screen, you will need to turn off system restore.

Did you upgrade XP with the patches? If so it will disable network cards. You may want to see if theres a new network card driver for xp. And you may want to try to uninstall tcp/ip

I take it the burner software you are taking about is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5, if so download the latest XP patchs from http://www.roxio.com
I had same problem, gone now :)
Good Luck.

Hi...I am currently having the same problem. Just started after installing a new burner. I am using ez cd creator 5 and have downloaded the patch for XP (xp_up_exe.) version 5.02b. Problem still persists, tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no change. Any suggestions!!

U have to install both Roxio and the patch without restarting, then restart - it worked for me. :)

And for best results with XP, do not install Take Two or DirectCD.
