how long is suppose to take?
ive run it as sfc/pergecache then i am running it as afc/scanonce ,and rebooting.
its been at it for about an hour and a half , and not even done 25%
very little running in background (no a/virus etc)
is it supposed to check each individual file by compering it with a flash (on the cdrom) or at least it seens like that.

Just for comparison, I did this the other night on my Athlon 1333 w a 40x CD-ROM and it took about 30 minutes or less.

I have just run this from the command line after using /purgecache then /scannow, and it completed in 7 minutes using XP Home, 1ghz T-Bird, 40x CD-Rom (Plextor CDRW PW241040TA) & 1gb RAM (No Swap File)

I also ran this to check the files on a P4 - 1.6GHz and found it ran in approx 35 minutes. This was with all background processes shut down.

ran it again on another machine this morn and it ran in about 5-10mins,
i can only put this long sinario to the fact that it was running in a (semi) dos mode and i had installed the ide drivers (ali) that change the drives to scsi drives - hence the drives not performing in (semi) dos mode.
