New system - Asus with a k7 1.4 and XP home ed.

Cdroms acting strange - One is a regular 32x, and other is a Toshiba DVD/CDRW/CD drive. When a cd is put it either one, a few things happen: either it detects there is something in it but when explored it shows nothing, pops up with a box about format not supported or media corrupt, or it might work. I have put a cd in - it read it - then take it back out and put it back in and will not read it. This is occurring with both drives and I have even changed the regular 32x drive, reinstalled drivers, reinstalled xp, and a few other things. Also a Lexmark printer connected to the system is having communications problems - sometimes it works sometimes it don't. Appreciate any help - been fighting with this.

Is your Lexmark on a USB port by any chance?
